LaZorraRoja 205 Posted August 10, 2025 I have one of those two cylinder Napa air compressors bolted to the side of my truck bed and it gets really hot, especially when filling up more than one set of tires. I happened to have a radiator fan from a Can-Am and like peanut butter and chocolate this idea came together. I rigged it up to a relay and now I'm just waiting for the thermal switch arrived to complete the setup. I already have power from a 100 amp hour PO4 battery supplying a bus bar and the compressor so wiring was a snap. Curious to see how this will convert to run time extension and if doing so will damage the internals running it longer than it wants to normally. It won't allow me to upload the video but using a thermal scanner I let the compressor get up to 227° before turning on the fan and was able to get it down about 30° within a couple of minutes of shutting it off. I think with the thermal switch it will kick on well before it reaches that and hopefully keep it running around 180-190°. 2 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

shellback91 2,315 Posted June 23 I made an appointment with Joe at @OnPointOffroad in a few weeks to have him take a look at this issue. It is an occasional one but needs to be addressed. I also noticed Betty Lou needed an oil change and I did not have the time to do it myself so I took her to a spot over by my house to get it done. LOL> Mine has been sitting in the parking space of my apartment complex with a dead battery and hasn't been driven since the last Dirt Gala.
