  1. LOL! This picture explains a lot... All I could hear at this point was the radiator fan throwing a lot of water around under the hood. I really wanted to keep going forward through the squeeze, but I didn't think it was worth risking my XJ's engine.
  2. I would recommend that you wait for an easier run. I have seen a couple of flops and plenty of body damage happen on Mud Springs. It is a very challenging trail. If you have lots of experience wheeling your WJ and are OK with body damage you will enjoy the challenges this trail presents. If your experience is limited and/or you want to keep your Jeep's body straight, this is not a trail that you want to try.
  3. Another great day! Thank you all for coming... I wish you would have let us know that. Rush, SCOT68, and I stuck around and ran a bunch of trails out there. In fact, we were having such a good time that I just got home.
  4. Technically you were never in, but thanks for letting us know. LOL! Now there will only be one grocery getter slowing the group down ... mine!
  5. Once you are driving north on the 87 you will want to watch for and exit at Bush Memorial Highway. At the top of the exit ramp turn left and drive over the overpass. You will run straight into a large, circular area of pavement. We will be meeting right there and airing down our tires before continuing past the gates and down the dirt road.
  6. So are you offering the CB mounts for sale/trade/free, or are you just bragging that you have them and that they make CB mounting very simple? (Note: I already know the answer to this question, but I enjoy giving you a hard time.)
  7. Smoke signals will work. I encourage you to burn SCOT68's Jeep since he doesn't have a CB either. You're on the "confirmed" list.
  8. Bring it! This will be the perfect place for you to test it out. You can try whatever obstacles you feel comfortable with and easily avoid anything you don't feel comfortable with. EDIT: I'll put you on the "maybe" list. Please let me know if you want to be moved to the "confirmed" list.
  9. Hello and welcome to the fun.
  10. ... LO PHAT's Four Simple Rules 1) TREAD LIGHTLY! -- Keep your vehicle on the trail at all times. Don't throw any trash or cigarette butts on the ground. If you find trash along the trail please help by picking it up. 2) Keep the driver behind you in sight at all times. -- By doing this the driver behind you will know which turn you took, and you will know if he/she is experiencing any trouble. If you don't see the driver behind you stop. Don't worry about getting left behind. The driver in front of you will then also stop when he/she doesn't see you. This is often called the "rubber band" effect. The group will stretch out in the open areas and tighten back up in the twisty or difficult parts of the trail. 3) No drinking and driving. -- If you want a beer with lunch feel free to bring it. Beyond that leave the heavy drinking for when you get home. 4) Buckle up. -- Make sure that everyone in your vehicle is wearing a seat belt whenever your vehicle is in motion. ...
  11. ... What: This will be another one of LO PHAT's crazy runs (sort of...). That means you must come with a great attitude, be willing to try various challenges and obstacles, and plan for the possibility of the unexpected. The only vehicle requirements are four-wheel drive and adequate ground clearance. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join in the fun. For those new to off-roading this will be an excellent opportunity to gain some experience and increase your comfort level with your vehicle. Come ask any questions you might have and get any help you might need in a setting where absolutely no egos exist. Where: Sycamore Creek There are no specific plans for the day. We will explore the wash and surrounding areas. Those who want to drive over rock piles, climb Widow Maker, and/or attempt the Squeeze are welcome to do so. When: Saturday, December 14, 2013 We will be meeting and airing down at the entrance to lower Sycamore (Bush Highway overpass and the 87) around 8:30 am. Those coming from the east side are welcome to meet at the Quik Trip gas station on Ellsworth and University around 7:45 am. We will depart the gas station as a group and caravan to the air down spot. Why: This is a day to have some fun, relax, and hang out with friends.
