Click here for the full thread... ---------------------------- I am planning to head up to Death Valley with Land Ops folks later this month. They are planning an op in the Coso Range of Death Valley, near Panamint Springs. They are going to run a desert navigation - communication exercise on Saturday March 30. They plan to stay in the area exploring for a couple days after the op. I am thinking of making a long weekend of it and head up on Thursday, 3/28 with a planned return on Tuesday 4/2. With all the rain this year, they are predicting another super bloom in Death Valley. I went a couple years ago and the scenery was pretty incredible. For anyone interested in visiting Death Valley this spring, this is a great opportunity to explore with a group that knows the terrain and enjoys mixing ham radio with off roading to help sharpen desert navigation skills. If interested, hit me up and we can try to get a small group together to head up from AZ. ---------------------------- Please click here for complete information on this event or to sign-up...

We are amateur radio operators who enjoy driving backcountry trails in our Jeeps. During the run we will be exercising our radio operator skills. Run details can be viewed at:https://www.alltrails.com/explore/ma...mm-warrior-run Those interested in joining us, we will meet at the "Rally Point" (see run details link) on Saturday, December 15th at 8:AM. After our driver's briefing, we will traverse to the Bee Canyon Trailhead and begin our run. We expect the run to last about four hours, with a meal break at "Stone Creek Yellow Post Sites." For run communications, we will be using the following modes: CB = Channel 16; FRS = Channel 16; and HAM = Simplex 146.550 MHz. Click here for the full thread... ---------------------------- October 12-14, 2018 is the date for the AZ NV PA and SD QSO Parties! AZ NV PA all have the same exchange. This makes working all three simultaneously easy. For PA simply put the signal report (59 usually) in for the serial number. If your using N1MM+ Logger, or other loggers, simply "force" the log from other states. Then turn in the same Cabrillo file to all three parties. If your really good, you can edit your exchange file for N1MM+ so you don't have to force the other states exchange. https://www.azqsoparty.org/ http://nvqso.com/ http://paqso.org/index.html https://sdqsoparty.com/ Once again NV7CV will be working from a tri-county county line expedition in Nevada. We're looking forward to hearing you on the air. ---------------------------- Please click here for complete information on this event or to sign-up...

Click here for the full thread... ---------------------------- Fourth Annual Jeep Beach West Pismo Beach, Ca / Oceano Dunes Oct. 6 – 8, 2017 I attended this event last year and it was a blast. It was great being able to camp and play on the beach. There are hotels nearby for those who don't like falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean lapping at your tent or RV on the beach. This year they have added a day and a new trail ride in the nearby mountains. Here is a video recap from last year to give you a feel for the event: https://youtu.be/4dxi9XGC5V4* Full event details can be found at JEEP BEACH WEST I ran into a few Jeep folks from AZ on the beach last year. I'd like to see a bigger showing this year, and a few hams would be great to help with communications out in the dunes and on the trail ride to Garcia Ridge. If anyone else is interested in going, hit me up and maybe we can make some plans to hook up on the beach and have some fun. Here is some general info on the event. Jeep Beach West is Fun, Sun, Jeeps & Driving on Dunes! In 2015, our 2nd year we had: 152 Jeeps, 9 Sponsors, 2 days and 1 Wedding Proposal. In 2016, we had over 300 Jeeps registered and expect to keep doubling. Events this year include a local trail run to Garcia Ridge, wheeling in the dunes day and night, a newbie run, a bright light competition, a show 'n shine with prize giveaways, kids krafts, beachfront parade and Competition Hill climb challenge. Registrants prior to 9/11/17 receive a mailed packet with a unique JBW sticker, matching coozie, sponsor coupons and swag, a product give away ticket, & tickets for Saturday night's hot dog cook-out. Product giveaways provided by our gracious sponsors include lighting, winches, tow ropes, Monster Hooks, Spiderwebshades & Trashvaroos and lots more! This is a family and dog friendly event. Please help spread the word and Jeep the beach this October! ---------------------------- Please click here for complete information on this event or to sign-up...
