  1. I had the same problem when I had my JK. I started with a new gas cap, then tightened everything I could find from the rear of the gas cap, all the way back to the gasoline tank. It turned out to be a plastic “snap-together” factory fitting. It was not securely fastened together. Why it didn’t throw a code much sooner, baffles me but, after making sure everything was tightened/fastened, I no longer had any more codes come up. Everything I checked was accessible by lying on a creeper and sliding underneath.
  2. The last model of “jeep” used by the U.S. military was the Vietnam-era M151A2 MUTT Ford M151 MUTT (Military Utility Tactical Truck). It was used until the 1990’s. The CJ (Civilian Jeep) was devised from the military M38A1. The CJ was built until the mid ‘80’s, when the first Wrangler, the YJ, came out.

  5. The tunnel you take into the mountain is at ground level, with a turnaround at the end. There are something like 7 levels in that mountain, of which you cannot drive. However, I heard there were ladders at some locations and shoots between levels. A friend of mine was in there a year ago and said there’s an awful lot of graphitti. Just hope no one is coming the opposite way. It’s a long way to back out.
  6. The 2019 JL has a bunch of new technology that wasn’t included during their Wrangler tests. I feel safer driving my JL than I did with my previous JK. I can’t speak for the pedestrian thing, I haven’t hit one yet.
  7. I spent a couple of days trying to figure out a way to run my HAM system in the JL. Most of the exterior is either aluminum or magnesium. So...after digging and digging all over the Internet, I think I may have a way to make it work. It’s not proven yet, and I’m not sure how far it will get out there, but I’m hoping it will at least work well enough to communicate with a close group. I’m using a Chinese made VHF/UHF stubby antenna mounted to an Nagoya NMO mount, attached to a Rhino JL, rear light bracket. The Rhino light brackets fasten behind the hinges, using the hinge screws. The Nagoya mount is adjustable to avoid low tree branches and garage doors. A rain cap is included if you want to remove the stubby antenna. The cable enters the rear of the top through a small, sealed hole, goes behind the Velcro-affixed covering and exits at the location where you would disconnect the water line and electrical plug for the wiper arm, when you plan on removing the top. At that point, a double female connector is used to connect to the cable running forward to the handheld transceiver.
  8. Nice Ryan! I’m looking forward to this trip too! Although I have pulled trailers with my JK, this will be my first time pulling with the JL.
  9. You have us down as Green JKr. However, we are Ghostrider and still plan on attending. Just wanted to point that out so we don’t loose our place. Hopefully, we will be pulling a pop up trailer.
  10. Agree with Mike. I have a Coleman square base, oversized bag. Plenty of room, no need for a liner (dislike them anyway). Reasonably priced. Purchased from Amazon. Very happy!
  11. Thanks everyone for the comments. Eager to get out there and have some fun. Thank you Diane for getting the username changed. See you guys soon.
  12. Thanks guys! Diane, if you can change my Username, please do. We’re not green anymore.
  13. We just took delivery of our new 2019 Wrangler Rubicon JLU. Lots of options and no need for lots of expensive aftermarket stuff. The new JLs come equipped with tons of upgraded extras. It even sits two inches higher than previous Rubis, runs on 33’s, has modular steel bumper and practically a rolling computer. Hoping soon to roll with you guys. I am planning on a 2 1/2” lift (already ordered), later go to 35’s with rims. After that, maybe a Warn winch, a tailgate reinforcement kit and a few lights. BTW, I will be changing my username from GreenJKr to Ghostrider.
