  1. I had a dodge minivan in the shop that had heating issues, some tech. in the past had changed the freeze plugs and left all of the old ones in the block. They restricted the water flow threw the block, so I'd look while the head off. Good luck
  2. Now that is craftsmanship. I wonder if the lathe and other tools are used for making watches during work hours?
  3. NAXJA has runs and camping trip planed that weekend at FJ as well. I'm camping with them, hope to run into you guys out there it would be great to meet you.
  4. I was at WalMart buying a bag of Purina dog chow for my dog , in the check-out line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. Why else would I be buying dog chow, RIGHT ??? So on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again, and that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up i...n the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in intensive care, with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a Perfect Diet and all you do is load your pockets with Purina Nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.) Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care, because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off a curb to sniff a poodle's butt and a car hit me.

    SYE question

I see if you can find a 231 with a sye already installed. I found one on VJC for $300 and one on CL for $350 then at pick-a-part for $130 with driveshaft. Last I knew the first 2 where still for sale might be willing to deal by now. GL, Oh and if you end up at a junk yard looking for a ZJ steering linkage for your bro keep an eye might get lucky
  9. Wow Jimmy, thats funny after doing LT, my brother in law and I where messing around back there and got pics of the same old truck and rock cabin that same day. Dont feel bad about the breakage half way threw LT the yellow TJ that was with our group snaped the end off his SYE and I towed him threw the rest of the obsticles(sp) So we decided not to do UT because the trails were all backed up with broken rigs and went exploring insted.
  10. yes, if you stay on this road past tortilla flats it goes past Canyon lake and Apache lake and follows the river to Roosevelt Lake. There are a few places to play with your 4x4 but not many, if you google it there is alot of info.
  11. In order Signal mill, Rock Cabin at McCracken, Old mine works in San Domingo wash.
  12. Apache Trail, or Castle hot springs, or if your looking for a longer run the Senator Highway from Crown King to Prescott is great. The trail guides are a good idea, also fwiw a good map or GPS should be in any trail rig, a wrong turn on an unfamiliar trail can ruin a good day.
  13. Yes, spacers with shocks if you can. http://www.xtremeterrain.com/99-04grandcherokeewjliftkits.aspx I like the 2" Suspension Kit for 99-04 Grand Cherokee WJ by Rough Country. The stock shocks limit articulation more than the aftermarket ones. Without lockers articulation is a big help getting over obstacles.
  14. Awesome, Thanks for all of the good info. I never knew that the slip yoke was an issue with the 3inch lift on my jeep. I plan on more lift soon so this may come in handier than i thought.
  15. A couple of weeks ago I destroyed my NP242 t-case while out wheeling. So this past weekend my friends and I hit the you pull it junkyards to try to find a replacement. My buddy Jamie got all excided about finding an NP231 with a slip yoke eliminator already added, I bought it and after trials and tribulations it is installed. My question is what if any advantage it gives besides being able to still drive without a rear driveshaft. I have several jeep friends that act like this should be standard equipment on any 4x4.
  16. For sure! So my next question is do tires come before a lift? Depends how good are the tires, I'd get the lift first if you can wait on tires. Bigger tires can rub and tear up the fenders and tires.
  17. I dont know if they would protect you in a crash but for sure in a flop, I think one of the biggest things that exo-cages do is give you the confidence to go places you might not try otherwise. Jamies exo has saved windows and kept parts like hinges and latches from getting damaged to the point that they dont work and have to be replaced. I hope to start mine this winter.
  18. X2 lots you can do with a small lift and some bigger tires.
  19. Great write up thanks for all of the info-ideas.
  20. welcome, I have a friend that wheels one of those, they do really well with just a few mods.

    New toy

Winch, tires, locker, jack, cage, I can see 900 bucks worth stuck on this xj. Great find.
  22. The only way I like it is, cubed 1 inch, soak 1hour in milk, coat with cajun shake-n-bake, drop into pan of hot oil, remove when they float back up, place on a paper towel and enjoy. sorry for the hi-jack
  23. Are you going to do a write up on this? I am planning to run duels and to relocate them and am looking for ideas. I also have a large inverter I plan to hardwire in at the same time and was wondering if it would screw up the controler?
  24. Sami's are awesome the problem is they are getting pricey as he11. A fullsize truck is gonna take a teens whole paycheck to keep gas in it. Was keeping a 76 suburban 4x4 for my boy and he told me he didnt want something that costs 120+ bucks to fill, so I sold it.
