Sorry for the delay. Been working way too much. Here is the link to my album: https://picasaweb.google.com/110968346826086888564/20150524Payette?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCKei86mLpu-ERg&feat=directlink Some favorite shots of the day: Flexing for fun: Nona drove for a bit over some ledges: Up and over a boulder....because we can: Our trail leader: The guys relaxing at lunch Made it to the waterfall at the end. The pictures doesn't do it justice. This was a big climb. We decided against it and instead watched some locals attempt it. One was winched up, one broke an axle, and by the third we were bored and decided to head out. After a fun day of wheeling we decided to drive straight from Payson to Tucson. The dogs were exhausted. Madchen fell asleep on top of the cooler! A big thanks to Jeff and AZ WJs for arranging this fun run.

Amethyst Mine January 2015 Picture Thread
kaspily replied to dzJeepChic's topic in Trip Reports & Photos
We had so much fun with everyone yesterday. Thanks to ORP for leading this and for ladybug for bringing us out a beautiful trail to Superior. Link to highlight album: https://picasaweb.google.com/110968346826086888564/20150117FlorenceHighlights?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCPzA9e6epJnM8gE&feat=directlink Link to full album: https://picasaweb.google.com/110968346826086888564/20150117Florence?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCNb35cidpJqzwgE&feat=directlink Beautiful day for rock-hounding: A nice size herd of deer watched us from across the Ajax wash: Lots of good finds today, amethyst, Apache tears, and some fossils, and other unidentified rocks. My rocks are soaking and I will get pics of those up later on the rock-hounding thread. For the station wagon portion of the club we had WJ only parking at the top of Ajax mine: View looking over towards Superior, AZ and Picket Post Mountain: As we made our way to Superior we came across two women hikers who said their friend ran out of water and was going to search for a "spring". In typical ORP fashion a bunch of the ORP members gave multiple water bottles and made sure they were okay. They had a day and half left of hiking and I sure hope this helped them make it. My favorite shot of the run. Finishing up in Superior, AZ -
Here is a before and after photo of my jeep. Both pictures at Ajax Mine 3 years apart.

I really want that cheese dip recipe. The gift exchange and all the steals was super fun: Jeff celebrating victory after he stole "my" table: Thanks again to everyone for a really fun day! I had fun driving the trail out and really need to steal the Jeep more often from Chris! -
Looks like a fun trip!

Not sure how this might impact trail access but Chris was thinking Hackberry Creek Trail might be threatened by this new play to close off the forest to the public for mining. http://tucson.com/business/national-and-international/deal-for-superior-mine-inserted-into-defense-bill/article_70df39c2-4cfe-59ac-a257-edf84767b4c4.html Might be time to write your senator to try to fix this. -Sarah

We are also bringing hot dogs and buns and a few bags of chips. We'll be there early to try to get a parking spot. -
Starting a new trip report thread for this weekend's adventure lead by Kermit. I'll link my full photo album after it finishes uploading. Chris and I only were able to make day one so I look forward to seeing everyone's photos from Sunday to see what we missed! Huge thanks to Kermit for not only leading us but also having some great history to share with us at each of the old mining ghost towns. Not yet. Been sitting on the recall notice waiting for the parts to come in. That and I hate bringing my Jeep and leaving it in Tucson! Guess we'll be waiting some more on this.
