Join us on a short moderate rated night run on a portion of the Hieroglyphic Mountain Loop in the Boulders OHV area. We'll eventually connect to Morgan City Wash for a bit, then exit onto the paved part of Castle Hot Springs road near Lake Pleasant & Hwy 74. Should be a 3 to 4 hour run depending on group size. This trail is probably OK for newbies as long as you are comfortable with some steep climbs and descents in the dark! Family friendly and no drinking and driving! General requirements: A high clearance, street legal, 4x4 with low range t-case option. Skid plates on anything important. No low hanging side steps, front air-dams, etc. For example, most stock 4wd Wranglers, Broncos, and Tacomas are likely good but other rigs may need a small lift. Click here for Details & to RSVP... This is a two-trail run, Schenbly Hill Road in the morning followed by Broken Arrow for the afternoon. You do not have to run Broken Arrow in order to join us for Schenbly Hill Road. Schenbly Hill Rd is a scenic drive from I-17 down into Sedona with spectacular views looking down into and across Sedona and if we are lucky we may still catch some of the remaining high elevation fall color. When & Where: Saturday: November 1, 2025 @ 9:30 am Depart on the trail no later than 10:00 am Location: Schnebly Hill Rd Exit 320 (west side), I-17 (Google Maps Link) Nearest Gas Station: is just north of the Schnebly Hill exit. Munds Park Chevron off I-17, exit 322 (Google Maps Link) Trail Rating: Easy / Moderate Schnebly Hill road is rough but can be navigated easily with any reasonable clearance trail-rated SUV/CUV. Broken Arrow is a solid moderate for the major non-optional obstacle, the Devil's Staircase. Vehicle Requirements: Both Trails Front and rear recovery rated tow points Aggressive A/T or M/T tires are required Means to deflate and reinflate your tires Schnebly Hill Rd ( easy ) High clearance 4x4 or AWD vehicle designed for trail High in this case means at least 8+ inches of clearance. AWD "sport" CUV need to be their trail rated or trail enhanced trims Broken Arrow ( moderate ) High clearance, 4x4 with low range Lockers optional Full size vehicles are not recommended although if you really want to run with one, reach out to me and we'll discuss Aggressive A/T or M/T tires are required At least 33", 35 or larger recommended Communications: GMRS Channel 17 (462.600mhz). We may change GMRS channels as needed to avoid busy local repeaters or other nearby groups. Additional Considerations: Dress for the weather, Sedona in November can be chilly in the mornings Bring a chair! Bring a lunch, snacks, and plenty of water Recovery gear / traction aids Emergency supplies / Med kit Sunscreen! Don't forget that camera - you're going to want it Bring a positive attitude! DATE CHANGE: I have moved this run to Saturday October 4th. Fall is approaching and leaves are starting to turn colors. Join me for an mostly easy run through Cherry Creek, up the southwest side of the Black Mountains and down Mingus mountain. Beautiful scenery and spectacular views await. We will tackle approximately 40 miles of winding mountain trails. There will be a wide range of central Arizona mountain scenery throughout this trip When & Where: Saturday: October 4, 2025 @ 9:30 am Depart for the trail no later than 10:00 am Location: Yavapai Apache Market, 3400 AZ-260, Camp Verde, AZ 86322 (Google Maps Link) Trail Rating: Easy-ish I'm rating this 4 of 10, a hair over "easy" because of once section of FS413 that is pretty rough and AWS "sport" vehicles such as the Bronco Sport or Jeep Compass may need a little spotting. See photos in the first comment following this post. Vehicle Requirements: High clearance 4x4 or AWD vehicle designed for trail High in this case means at least 8+ inches of clearance. 12 is better. We will be starting close to Flagstaff where we will make our way west towards Williams with a few stops along the way to check out some epic scenery. Join me on a day trip for an interesting, fun ride in the Signal Mountain and Woolsey Peak Wilderness. We will air down near the interesting old town of Arlington, AZ then work our way west between the volcanic mountains over washes and rolling hills. Time permitting we’ll extend the ride to the amazing overlook at the Gillespie Dam Bridge. Should be a relaxing ride through some beautiful volcanic terrain and air up at the striking cliff overlook of a dam and 10 span iron bridge. Apache Maid Area Exploration- Camping At Buckhorn Cabin Saturday June 3rd & Sunday June 4th Primitive Tent Camping | No Facilities Join me for 2 days of easy low mileage exploration on this overland style run. I expect this to be a low key, low effort run before the weather gets too warm. (Trails are colored Teal below) Saturday we will start on Stoneman Lake Road which is approximately 6 miles east of I-17. We will make stops and check out anything interesting along the way this day. We will take Stoneman Lake Road east to Rocky Gulch Ridge then south to a small piece of Apache Maid Trail. We will pick up Cedar Flat Road and turn south until we find 00081A. From there we will snake our way down about 4 miles to the Buckhorn Ranch and cabin where we will camp and check out that area. Sunday morning we will work our way back to Cedar Flat Road then over to the Beaver Creek trail and then southward towards Camp Verde. Meetup,Air-Down and Departure When: June 3rd @ 9:30 A.M, departing no later than 10:00 A.M.. We are only covering about 35-40 miles Saturday so we should make the cabin mid afternoon. Subject to change. Where: Stoneman Lake Road Trailhead. (Where the paved section of Stoneman Lake Road from I-17 ends) Fuel up in Camp Verde if coming from the valley. Please arrived fueled up. Requirements A high clearance 4x4 truck or SUV with a low range transfer case option, suitable front & rear recovery point, aggressive A/T or M/T tires While not required, aftermarket skid plates, rock rails, and sway-bar disconnects are suggested. Rigs & drivers must meet all the typical state/federal legal requirements for on-highway vehicles (license, insurance, registration, seat belts, lights, etc.) Vehicle should be mechanically sound and safe to drive Drivers of varying experience should be fine on this trip PRIMITIVE CAMPING Camping stuff (tent, sleeping bag, chair, stove, etc.) Other Important Details Bring 2 lunches, 1 dinner, 1 breakfast, snacks MORE water than you need Camping (PRIMITIVE) Please bring appropriate clothing and bedding. Radio Comms Primary - GMRS channel 20 (462.675 MHz) Recovery gear, first aid kit, fire extinguisher Folding chair, camera Adult beverages are allowed and must be enjoyed responsibly. untilCamp Verde To Mogollon Rim Overland Style Run Friday June 16th & Saturday June 17th Primitive Tent Camping | No Facilities Join me for 2 days and approximately 105 miles of exploration on this overland style run. This route will take us from Camp Verde to the Mogollon Rim where we will camp. I have pieced this together using various trails in the area. Most of these trails are easy to moderate based on my research, nothing too technical is involved. There some rocky two track sections mixed for good measure. Extra fuel is not necessarily required, however, if you have the ability to bring some it is worth considering doing so. Note this is an Offroad Passport Club members-only event. Mogollon Rim- 7-16-22 - Easy To Moderate My wife and I will be in Payson 7-15 through 7-17 escaping the summer heat. She is not a camping person so we are staying at a hotel in town. There are camping spots all over up there if you want to camp Friday(7-15) or Saturday night or both nights. My plan is to run a few easy Mogollon Rim trails on 7-16 while we are up there. I want to revisit the area and check out some cabins, one of which is a short hike off one of the trails. If my math is correct we are looking at about 60 miles total. These are mainly easy trails where, based on prior experience, we can make good time. Here's the trails I have mapped out. Rim Road- I am starting on the East side off of HWY 260. This will be run West to the next trail. Cabin Loop Trail- We will run a good portion of this trail over to the next trail. FR 139G- We will run this short 2 mile trail south. Per TrailsOffroad there is an old homestead next to Aspen Spring that is worth checking out. They say the hike is easy and less than a 1/2 mile(one way) off this trail. Dick Hart Ridge- The previous trail ends here so we will continue south until this trail ends at Rim Road(FR 300) Rim Road- We will run this West to HWY 87 from where Dick Hart Ridge ends. . Meet-Up & Departure: Time: 0830 at the Rim Road trailhead off of Hwy 260. (Old Rim Road Visitor Center) There is an area there for all of us to stage up and air down. If folks want to meet 30 minutes earlier I am open to that as well. Depart NLT 0900 Google Map here. No service stations near by, recommend to top off off in or around Payson on the way in. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This trip is subject to cancellation or postponement due to rain, fire, inclement weather or $10 a gallon gas.🤣 Communications: GMRS - Channel 20 (462.675 MHz) Other Considerations: Plenty Of Water & Food (pack a lunch and snacks!) Dress for the weather. Be advised there is a good mix of terrain including but not limited to some mild off camber sections and loose rock in various spots. Vehicle Minimums: All vehicles are required to meet state legal requirements, (i.e.: current registration and insurance) Each vehicle must have a GMRS or HAM Radio in good working order Have functional seat-belts for each occupant Must have suitable recovery points front and rear High-clearance 4x4's with low-range 30"+ aggressive all-terrain or mud-terrain tires SIGN-UPS Post a reply in this thread saying you'd like to go and I'll put you on the roster! When: Saturday, April 30, 2022 The car show official time is 4:00 - 8:00 PM Cars (Jeeps/Rigs) may begin parking in Car Show Parking Area at 3:00PM Cars (Jeeps/Rigs) that want to park in the Car Show Parking Area should arrive/group up before 3:00 Where: The Pavilions at Talking Stick - North side of street Main Entrance Address: 9120 East, Talking Stick Way (aka Indian Bend Road), Scottsdale, AZ 85250 Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/LBAgNQJHn3Z4owrM8 Things to know: The car show is held on the north side of Talking Stick Way, behind Union 76 Gas Station, McDonalds, Denny's, Panda Express Car show parking fills up fast! Bring chairs, snacks and or beverages. McDonalds and lots of other restaurants nearby. It's fun to walk the car show rows! It's also great to have people stop and ask questions about your rig! Our trip will include a daylight drive to the top of a mountain where we will be able to enjoy sunset in one of the most beautiful areas in the state. Rescheduled Run Sat 9/18/2021: Montana Mountain Loop: Near Gold Canyon, AZ: Easy to Moderate (Photo credit https://funtreks.com) Join me on a 29 mile scenic high-mountain loop in the East valley. Montana Mountain - This trail rated Easy to Moderate. Heading up there are some steep and narrow parts that could be rutted depending on recent weather. There are some switchbacks on the east side coming down. 4 Low is recommended for this section to help control descent speed. GPX files: I have my own as well that I based off TrailsOffroad. If you 'd like that one as well let me know and I will add it. From Trails Offroad From FunTreks State Trust Land Permit Required Get it here: https://land.az.gov/applications-permits MEET-UP: 09:00 AM near the OHV parking lot near the trailhead. This is a big dirt lot so we can find a spot for all of us to stage up and air down. 33.27601, -111.27635 Google Map here. No service stations near by, recommend to top off off in Gold Canyon on the way in. Rough Itinerary Air down and depart meet up location NLT 09:30. Total time to complete the run is listed at approximately 5-6 hours(Depending on how may stops we make etc.) so we should be aired up by mid-afternoon. 1/9/2021: 11th Annual Holiday Party Trail Ride BBQ Gift Exchange Cookie Contest: near Carefree, AZ: 4x4 Easy Hey everyone!!! It's time for Offroad Passport's Annual Holiday party after the Holidays! Join us for a short easy trail ride and big time fun! There's BBQ'd burgers & dogs and a potluck lunch, the infamous cut-throat white elephant gift exchange, and the annual cookie contest (AND JUDGING - YUM!)! After all the fun and excitement we'll exit to Bartlett Dam Rd, probably airing up by mid-afternoon. It's a fun day with your Offroad Passport friends! MEET UP: 9:30 AM at the Shell gas station on Dynamite Road & Alma School Rd. Map link here... Note: You may want to get gas at a different place first though since that Shell is SO 'spensive! Trail Info: we'll be heading to the same spot as last year, but taking a slightly different route. i think this will make for about a 1 hour trail ride. the trail is still rated "easy", but you do need 4-wheel-drive. we'll exit towards Bartlett Dam Rd again which means the air-up spot is only about 20 minutes away after the party is over. This year the party is in Cottonwood, AZ! We've got plenty of fun planned (even beyond the fireside shenanigans and general good time!). Attend an easy to moderate trail ride on Saturday, or just play tourist in Cottonwood, Jerome or Sedona (did someone say winery tour?). Back at camp later you can enter to win some great Offroad Passport swag in the homemade salsa contest or one of our epic camp-challenge games! So grab the family and come spend a weekend tent or RV camping with us. Don't be that person hearing about all the great stuff you missed for the next whole year - sign up now! Location: Our original campground reservation was canceled due to COVID-19... Location confirmed! We've found a dispersed camp spot accessible by higher-clearance trucks/SUVs and RVs. It's 30 minutes east of Camp Verde, just off AZ Hwy 260 on Forest Road 142H. I don't believe the Forest Road is signed with a number, so you'll need the map or GPS coords below. Google Maps link... Important: This spot is currently bone dry but would be too muddy for RV's if it rains a ton the week before the event. Just in case, we have a backup location about 10 miles away, right off AZ Hwy 87. Cost: Camping Cost: There is no longer a camping fee due to the change in location, please contact us if you pre-paid and did not already receive a full refund. Suggested Donation: This is our annual fundraising event and a donation of $15/person (adult) would be greatly appreciated. We're not doing a raffle or receiving anything from campsite fees this year. Club & Supporting Membership fees typically only cover our absolute most basic operating costs and so we're really relying on folks to donate. Please see Diane at the event to make your donation. Itinerary: Friday Arrive anytime, most folks show up mid afternoon. Setup your campsite. NEW: Pumpkin carving on-your own anytime after arrival. Dinner (self-prepared) and social time, be sure to welcome any new faces! Saturday Morning Depart camp 9 AM for trail ride (details below), or head into Cottonwood/Jerome on your own for touristy stuff, or just hang out and relax at camp! Saturday Afternoon / Evening Offroad Passport Annual Salsa Contest! Jack-o-Lanterns that were carved on Friday go on display! GAMES!!! Navigation Challenge, Tent Erection Challenge, maybe more! Join the fun and win prizes! Social time, visit with old friends and get to know new folks! Sunday Leisurely break camp & head home anytime! Important Details: Be sure to bring everything you need for meals, including to cook with (there are no common grills, tables, or seating). Alcohol at camp is OK - please be responsible and respectful. ABSOLUTELY NO DRINKING & DRIVING! This is a family-friendly event! Saturday Trail Ride: We'll lead an easy to moderate rated trail ride: Clover Springs / FR 142, click here for details... Be sure to you are at the campsite before 9AM on Saturday if you're coming on the trail ride! We will be traveling on paved roads from camp to the trail and back, so vehicles must be street-legal/licensed or towed.
