stockjeep 43 Posted November 24, 2011 as you can see the original track bar bracket on the frame had recently cracked so I welded temporary tabs to keep it alive but it was junk and needed replaced. this is a common problem with lifted jeeps / big tires ect. George recommended checking out TMR Customs for a weld on bracket. Good looking item but I was concerned with clearance between the bracket and the spring so I decided to build one myself so here goes. this is what it looked like before the grinding and swearing started. the spacer between the rod end and bracket makes for a lot of leverage. I've never seen one crack like this, I've only seen the bracket ripped from the frame - this one is a real pos the spring needs to come off for access. Not a big deal but make sure the jeep is supported by heavy duty jack stands since you'll be be under it a lot for this process. I used a second smaller jack stand on each side for extra safety. I used a 4" grinder and 1/4" air angle grinder. No skimping on eye protection here, the fine metal particles will ruin an eye asap. good ol cardboard, trace out your design and cut the steel. this is 3/16 and 1/4 stuff. spot it together for a trial fit The final weld done with a Hobart 180 Done! the weld to the frame was a challenge but I had decent results by cutting the wire speed and temp back a notch. I also added a brace from the bracket across to the opposite frame rail. time will tell:eek: Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
