Number7 89 Posted October 20, 2009 I ran into the coolest trip report on JPFreek Adventure forum: http://www.jpfreek.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=102 I'm only on page 5 and don't have time right now to finish, but this is a very cool journal of a trip - the 1st of it's kind - from Paris to New York Overland! Well, that is if it's frozen all the way; they've got floaties for their Jeeps just n case. You've got to see this trip, way awesome! d
theksmith 5,778 Posted October 21, 2009 this is really awesome! to bad it looks like they are still stuck waiting on more funding in order to finish the trip (see last page). some things that struck me as i read more about it... looks like we could have gone with them for around $35k per person, per leg of the journey: http://www.pny2009.com/cms/front_content.php?idcat=305&lang=4 also notice on that page how long it is taking them to just move 200km in the crazy difficult terrain! from here to here is 30 days! then another 30 days to cross the Bering Strait to here! also check out their list of vehicle mods: http://www.pny2009.com/cms/front_content.php?idcat=364&lang=4 including such things as Pro Rock 60 axles, an Atlas with 6.0:1, and "special eyes to transport or save the vehicle by helicopter "
JPFreek 0 Posted October 22, 2009 It is an awesome trip and I'll be joining the team once they cross the Bering Strait and arrive in Alaska. If any of you want to join, the sections from Alaska to New York are "cheaper" than the legs in Asia. I think they go for about $17-18k. Of course, "cheap" is a relative term but if you've got the cash and time, you should come join the team!
