April 3, 2014 Log Corral Trail and Bartlett Lake recon mission

We took a ride yesterday up Log Corral trail to Bartlett in preparation for the planned camp-out there this September. What we saw as we approached the waterfall and rock-crawl section shocked us. We'd never seen anything like it before. Apparently the recent rains washed literally tons of sand into the wash, paving it smooth. Where normally jeepers run the risk of getting 'turtled' on a big rock is now a nice flat bed of sand.

Just past the 'Waterfall' is a rocky section that has at times in the past been somewhat tricky to negotiate. Yesterday it was practically a paved road; the main part has been stacked a lot, and of course there's a lot of sand now. There is still one sort of Z-turn obstacle in this section.

The rest of the trail was pretty much the same as you climb up out of the wash; there are still some technical parts. As for the lake it was WAY DOWN yesterday!

 

 

 

We're going to monitor the trail and lake as the September Trip approaches.
