Jeep JK engine oven!

it turns out you can fit a burrito warmer on the JK 3.6L after all... if you're willing to remove the plastic engine cover.

$100 seems a little steep, but then again it looks to be a nicely made and very complete kit. i'm just wondering if it gets warm enough to melt cheese like the custom made ones you see on other engines sitting closer to the manifold?

 

i've already become accustomed to using a 12v lunchbox, so i'm sticking with that for now - but engine ovens definately have their benefits.

With the under hood temps on most cars today, and our newer Jeeps in particular, I’m betting there’s enough heat to melt the cheese.

As someone who full times out of a 2015 JKU, Ive done this several dozen times without the need for any gadgets. You can warm up and cook anything under the hood of any rig using the radiating heat of the motor by just wrapping the desired item in aluminum foil. There's nothing in the engine bay that's going to harm or contaminate any wrapped food and its particularly tight fitting as well so your food isn't going to slide of the engine and into the roadway. I've warmed up bearclaws in the remote Glacier Back Country, Heated Pizza Rolls while wheeling the San Juans in Colorado and even cooked a full size Walmart pizza one time inside the engine bay. The pizza only thing was since there's no way to prop it level when it starts to heat the pizza sags a bit and the toppings slide some but wrapped in aluminum foil I had no leakage or dripping into the engine bay. The gadget looks cool but if you keep overloading your rig with things you "think" would be useful you're just wasting money that could pay for adventure fuel and will most likely not get used enough. Living out of a jeep full time over you need to get creative on stretching your finances and minimizing your pack out.
