Kristoffer, that was an awesome trip report! Thanks for putting that together for us. Poor Mike! Probably not his best weekend. Thank goodness you guys noticed he was missing and found him at the bottom at carpet hill. Nice job on the recovery, given the precarious condition of the trail and lack of proper equipment.

 

We missed seeing everyone, looks like it was a great time in spite of the difficult spots.

yes this is the bluebird mine and what you are seeing is a fault that was mined. if you stand on the hill to the east you can line up the shafts with the fault. my family had a friend that was a state mine inspector and he told us that he had been down in the mine a bunch of times to do inspections and that it was a large fault that had been mined. at one time bluebird was one of the largest molly mines in the us. copper creek is a great area to play in and get away to relax. here a few links to some info on copper creek.
