Knock off parts on eBay and Amazon

Recommended Posts

Hey, just wanted to share an experience with the group.

I bought Denso Iridium plugs online for my Tacoma and found out they are not real Denso's. Just wanted to relay my experience because I had to change them twice which required to much work. Be careful about what you buy online. Cheaper is not always better.

how did you determine they were not genuine?

i bought a supposedly Mopar clockspring off eBay a couple years ago and it didn't come in a typical white/blue box, just a cardboard box but with a Mopar label. it just didn't seem quite right though as the part itself didn't have any logos or markings. anyway, it only lasted a few months so i'm pretty sure it was a counterfeit. the only reason i got it off eBay was that they were on backorder from the local dealer at that time.

for Jeep/Ram parts, i have found https://www.azwholesalemopar.com/ to be a great source. prices are as good as or better than most other websites for genuine Mopar stuff, and you can get items shipped or pick up locally at Larry H. Miller Dodge Ram Peoria (Bell Rd & Loop 101).

Yes to this source.  Being able to avoid shipping is a good perk,

Their prices are usually a bit better than I can get using my MOPAR discount as a Chrysler retiree.

I’d have to drive to Avondale to beat their prices and then it’s only another 10% or so.

The plugs came in the right box but after looking at them the Denso stamp was not on the end cap and the Denso name on the shaft was not right. I took this to a Toyota mechanic and he confirmed
