thatoneguyaz 0 Posted March 11, 2012 Dude, do it yourself! Uppers are no biggie, couple hours if goes well. Lowers and uppers might take you half the day... even if you hit some problems you could do it in a day. 90% of bolts are accesible with an impact wrench with a wobble extension. Do we need a wrenching party? Oh and yes, getting alignment and tires right now! Thats all assuming you know what you are doing, eh? Nice pictures, where is that out at? ^ And yes to the wrenching party! My lift comes soon!! Lol.
dzJeepChic 2,897 Posted March 11, 2012 Wow, it came out really nice! Amazing what a budget boost & tires will do! I think those rims look fine too. Mini Me would've done fine on the trails we were on today. Congrats Aimee!

theksmith 5,778 Posted March 11, 2012 Nice pictures, where is that out at? ^ area known as Lower Sycamore Creek. you take the 87 (Country Club) out of town and about 10 miles past Shea Blvd (Fountain Hills), you get off on Bush Highway and turn left. watch out for shooters not shooting into the hills, dirtbikes and quads going way fast, and of course drunk hooligans on the weekend (being one of the closest areas to Phoenix to wheel has it's downsides). so i took it out there to the first place i could find to test out articulation and see what would rub where, and i almost got stuck i was surprised after driving mine all the time how fast i was out of flex and rocking back and forth on the opposite 2 wheels. i went to back up and it was slightly uphill and so without a locker and with 2 wheels off the ground i just got zrrrrrrrrr (tires spinning). i had to use the ole "e-brake locker" technique to get it to grab! theksmith 5,778 Posted March 11, 2012 i was afraid that without wider offset wheels or spacers that the rears would hit inside the well, but they actually tuck up just perfect: the rear springs' own thickness when completely collapsed is the limiting factor back there: the front rubbed inside the well on the plastic liner just a bit, but i think the longer bump stops i ordered will make it ok: however, the tires were catching the lower air-dam when cranked - even when level on the street. of course this made a horrible noise that turned heads as the lugs pulled on the plastic! i fixed that today with a little trim job: also used some Napa seam sealer (comes in a caulking tube) to seal up all the area around the pinch seam: the new Teraflx front bump-stops hopefully come in this week. theksmith 5,778 Posted March 12, 2012 spur of the moment night run last night.... crazy huge moon out, tried to grab a shot with the point-n-shoot while airing up: we picked up an MV-50 / MF-1050 from Pep Boys on the way out. they are currently $59.99 there which is slighter cheaper than Amazon or most other places online right now. this is the entry-level compressor i recommend for most people as they are relatively cheap and easy to source - yet they have the power to actually fill up four 31" tires in a reasonable time. they will also make it through 4 tires without overheating. it does get hot enough to burn you though (as do most), but they now come with rubber insulation on the quick connect so that you can actually disconnect the air line without gloves. if you don't mind spending more, i think the Puma line of 12v compressors (commonly on EBay) are the best bang-for-the-buck - they'll easily handle 33's or 35's.
