GOTMTNS 2 Posted April 21, 2010 Wow, really loving the attention to detail and craftsmanship. Watching this thread really interests me and encourages me to keep revamping mine, especially since our rigs were purchased from the same family.

dzJeepChic 2,897 Posted April 22, 2010 Coming along nicely... Now, where can I get me one of them there "George's"... Haha, he'd kill me if I tried to rent him out, but I could make a killing! I drove Clifford to work & grocery-getting yesterday. I LOVE THIS JEEP! He performed flawlessly; he's fast, handles great even disconnected (g still has to put on some disconnects), awesome seat & vehicle height (I can see out really well), and he has a KICKASS STEREO. Its breaking my heart we're not taking him to Rug Road, but I don't want my maiden trail to be quite so remote. And check out the cb mount George fabbed up & installed while I wasn't looking: I'm pretty stoked right now. d

dzJeepChic 2,897 Posted April 23, 2010 Them is some SWEET looking Wheels on that rig D... Why thank you Ob, can't wait to see yours! d  P.S. The shiny one that still needs some dulling is on the passenger rear, so it's not as obvious here that we have to work on it some more. George blacked out the dishes on it and then said, 'Hey, the other ones are not as shiny'.
ob1jeeper 849 Posted April 23, 2010 That's because the shiny one has never been on the ground (as in Brand Spanking NEW...)... I bought it to complete the set of the other 4 used ones I got with a TJ I had purchased a number of years ago...

dzJeepChic 2,897 Posted May 15, 2010 OK, update coming soon - all kinds of stuff going on. But I just wanted to report that while I'm driving Clifford, I get all sorts of 'Thumbs-Up' gestures from all sorts of people. I had a total hottie [guy] give me the thumbs up while he was walking his dogs the other day, and today an elderly women in a minivan gave me the thumbs up at an intersection. Wierd, but true. d
dzJeepChic 2,897 Posted May 16, 2010 George went to tighten a bolt on the transmission mount cross member, which was stripped. That was the beginning of this mod of epic proportions: 1st he drilled a hole so he could get a nut inside the unibody frame: He noticed some of the bolts were loose on the upper Rock Krawler Control-Arm Mount, and then he figured out why: the frame was getting crushed: If you look at the top of the bracket you can see the U shape: This is one of the brackets he designed to be welded onto both sides of the frame for re-inforcement: He made up some sleeves, the smaller holes are for weld spots: Inside bracket welded, sleeves going in: Sleeves of various sizes, the uni-body frame rail-thingy is wider at the front and tapers toward the bottom; each sleeve was a different size: Inside bracket burned on: Outside bracket burned on: Painted and caulked with clear acrylic, still drying: Continued V V V
