azshtr 0 Posted August 21, 2012 I think it's an option.
MARS 1 Posted August 23, 2012 I believe the new FJ's come with the rear diff lock. At least mine did.
rc_maniac 0 Posted August 24, 2012 yea, its still an option, but most come with one. We have one guy in our group that has a 2wd and it came factory with a rear locker.
dzJeepChic 2,897 Posted August 24, 2012 I used to have a Tacoma 4x4 that came with a rear locker, and while I was shopping for one I learned that the 2wd pre-runners came with it too. If I remember correctly, anything with the TRD package had it.
MARS 1 Posted August 25, 2012 My 2010 Taco (before I got my FJ) had the Offroad package and came with the rear diff lock. My friend bought the same truck but 2 wheel drive, paid $25K new while I paid $29,200 for 4x4 short bed, 4 door, offroad package. Only difference was the 2wd vs 4wd. He even had the same color. ScottyDog 0 Posted May 7, 2013 My 2010 Taco (before I got my FJ) had the Offroad package and came with the rear diff lock. My friend bought the same truck but 2 wheel drive, paid $25K new while I paid $29,200 for 4x4 short bed, 4 door, offroad package. Only difference was the 2wd vs 4wd. He even had the same color. I had a couple of friends that ended up buying trucks... (of course with no 4x4 experience other than riding with me...) that said, "well I would have bought the 4x4 but it was like $4k more than this one.." "Plus most of the stuff you do is in 2wd anyway.. so I can probably follow you right?" Yep! (in my head... you dumbass...) and as soon as we're on the trail getting way out offroad... then they realize how much of a mistake they made! Yes 2wd works fine up until this particular moment right? Spinning wheels, no front traction and off camber on a slight side hill that would be nothing in the simple and basic 4WD... but cause you wanted to be a cheapasstightwad! You are now soiling your drawls...and waiting for me to pull you up... LOL
91AzXJ 2 Posted May 8, 2013 So instead of buying the new 2WD truck, buy a two year old 4X4 for the same $. Heck, the 4X4 probably never saw any offroad anyway.
last great road trip 0 Posted July 25, 2013 Since this thread got bumped up a little bit ago thought I might as well pile on... Like Jeep owners, a lot of Toyota owners have pushed the mods and turned their FJ Cruiser into a Rubicon Trail eating machine... Although the Rubicon always gets the last bite :-). Just came off the Rubicon Trail a couple weeks back with four other FJCs. Here is a picture of my rig on Little Sluice More pictures and the whole story at Rubicon Trail 2013
dzJeepChic 2,897 Posted July 25, 2013 Sweet, thanks for posting this picture and a link to others (I'll have a look at your story when I have more time to spend). I'm anxious to see the little sluice in person next summer...
Number7 89 Posted July 25, 2013 Your site is hard to find the trip report from the 2013 run. Is there a direct link to the run? George:cool:
