alainsnyder 0 Posted June 5, 2014 Tiny update here. My factory crossmember was beat to death: Another Jeeper had this big beefy one for sale. Made from 3/16 steel instead of 10 gauge like the factory crossmember. The installation took literally 20 minutes. I was pleased. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

alainsnyder 0 Posted June 5, 2014 You may have read me complaining earlier in this thread about my front springs not staying put. I had the upper bumpstop extensions from teraflex installed, and upon heavy articulation where the axle is moving at an angle, those bumpstop extensions would engage the springs and lift them up. I realized I needed to split the total length of my bumpstops between the upper and lower spring buckets. So I took the Teraflex extensions off and reinstalled the factory muffin into the top side, and drilled and countersunk two hockey pucks to use as lower bumpstops, as you’ll see here: I’ve taken the Jeep on two or three outings since then, and it seems to work. Next I installed a Currie adjustable trackbar with rebuildable Johnny Joints at each end. Also, I took a little extra time to reinforce the frame side trackbar bracket with a weld washer on the front and back side, just to make sure the hole was perfectly round. I made sure to use 9/16 grade 8 bolts and stover nuts. Next was to rehab and install on old winch bumper I picked up from another member, then install the winch. alainsnyder 0 Posted June 21, 2014 I wanted a bumper bar, but I don’t own a bender, nor possess the skill to use one. So Todd at Desert Fab handled that for me; he did a very nice job for a reasonable price. Then I picked up some tabs and gussets at SDHQ.
