Ladybug 699 Posted January 27, 2013 Wow! What a surprise as we find lots of petroglyphs among these rocks! (Little did we know that we would be so surprised to find So Many More later in the day!!!) We head down into Brooklyn Basin.... (Since I seem to still have troubles with photobucket, will leave the petroglyph pics with those of Tim and Russ, and try to post some different pics) Standing among some Indian ruins in the Brooklyn Basin: At one of the mine shafts: In an old building along the trail. Given its size, we figured it must've been the admin building for the Brooklyn Mine. The Brooklyn Mine was about 1800 ft down the wash....and we did not hike to it...But did enjoy some of the cool surroundings here. At what we figured was the water cistern: Ziggy joins the photo op: And I am presented with a new cookie cutter! Watch out for that next batch of cookies!! Ladybug 699 Posted January 27, 2013 And we wander over to that ridge, just below our lunch spot and this latest Indian ruin, and what do we find!? Lots of petroglyphs!! and big ones too! But anxious to check out the biggest ruin of the area - Squaw Creek - we move on.... Here we are! And there's that ridge! There is actually a decent trail that runs about 25-30 ft below the top, and Saltman and I highly recommend it! Russ did a GREAT job posting pics from above...so will leave most of those pics with him....Just a few pics more: Most everyone works their way over to see these 'glyphs! Ladybug 699 Posted January 27, 2013 Imagine how many more are hidden now by fully grown cactus? How many can you count in this pic?! Saltman and OB1: The map showed that a small ruin - Squaw Creek Lookout - was across the way, on the mountainside....but I never really saw any more than just awesome views! The clouds are darkening and its getting late, so we head out. Funny, but the sprinkling rain started just about the time that we all finished airing up....
