Old Parts Disposal:

I recently changed out several parts on Big Jake and I was curious if anybody had any idea on what I should do with my old parts. I replaced the drag link, tie rod and front drive shaft and now the old ones are sitting on the floor of my garage taking up space I could use for something else. I can't exactly throw them in the garbage can. Anybody have any idea on how to dispose of them? If you're interested in these parts, maybe to rebuild the joints and such and use as spares for your 2nd gen Ram 1500 4x4, they're free to anybody who's willing to take them off my hands. I live in the west valley. Short of that, I have no idea what to do with them. Any info is helpful.

I actually had considered that but it would cost me more to drive them to a scrap metal shop than I would get by taking them there. It's the best option I've come up with yet though, I guess I shouldn't complain.

Call some local garages and see if they will take them. They probaly won't give you anything but at least they will get scraped. I work for International at central ave and i-17 we have a scrap metal bin.

have you considered putting them on Craigslist? I had some left over parts after a major upgrade that I would never need again and put them up on CL as free and they were gone in a few days.

 

Like In-A-Rut said, I have taken some parts to Sierra Expeditions and dumped them in their scrap bin just to off load them knowing they would get disposed of properly.

I have a sort of "Sanford & Son" junk collector that cruises the alleys around here. Anything metal, I just put it outside my fence and it's gone in a day. Just did this with my stock skidplates (also a washer, dryer, recliner, etc.).
