Saturday 8/2/14: Dupont Cabin Loop: Near Punkin Center, AZ: 4x4 EZ

Recommended Posts

Put new wiper blades on, got my rain poncho and a couple of Circle K sandwiches, and ready to roll.

P.S. Anybody else having problems logging on the last couple of weeks? Firefox says something about corrupt transmission and Google says something about duplicate headers from the website.

no issues myself, just used the site in FF and Chrome today on the Mac and on Chrome on the Android tablet.

are you not seeing problems with any other sites?

I would like to join the run. This will be my first run with group. I am guessing a Tonto pass is needed for this run?

pass not needed for driving, just hike/camp/etc. since we're stopping briefly a couple times it wouldn't hurt but i wouldn't freak out if u don't have one either. i think the baja gas station across from fort mcdowell still sells them.

Tonto's pretty specific that if you're not using one of their staging areas near water or for trailer parking, then you're good to go. Whenever we've called them to be sure that's what they've told us. I guess better safe than sorry, so if you can grab one on the way out the $5 would be well spent.

FYI - there is a flash flood watch affecting the Tonto Basin area, but the run is still on!

it's only a "watch" versus a "warning" and i'm not particularly concerned. we do have to cross the usually dry Tonto Creek wash so i have alternate routes in mind if there was to be any flooding.

Made it home safe and sound. That was some rain storm on the Bee-Line. Washed all the mud off. Thanks for leading K-Dude. A very nice day and some good future camping spots.
