In 1944, Willys-Overland produced and sold the first civilian Jeep. Designated as a CJ (civilian jeep), they retained the basic form and design of the Army Jeep until 1986, when it was revamped and became the Jeep Wrangler. d

Remember this?

Peter de Jager was the world’s foremost expert on the Y2K problem, which many believed would cause computer systems to collapse because their software would mistake the double zeroes of 2000 to mean 1900. He wrote the "Doomsday 2000" article that initially publicized the problem, then spent the 1990s helping companies all over the world fix their computers. When at midnight, January 1, 2000, planes did not fall from the sky, de Jager was angrily accused of setting the hysterical stage for billions of dollars to be wasted.

The planet's northern magnetic pole is drifting slowly but steadily towards Russia -- and it's throwing off planes in Florida. Tampa International Airport was forced to readjust its runways Thursday to account for the movement of the Earth's magnetic fields, information that pilots rely upon to navigate planes. Thanks to the fluctuations in the force, the airport has closed its primary runway until Jan. 13 to change taxiway signs to account for the shift the Federal Aviation Administration said Thursday.

Here's the smelly truth: The problem begins when bacteria are attracted to the sweat on your feet and start feeding on it. The bacteria’s excretion has a strong odor that causes your feet to smell bad. Since each foot has over 250,000 sweat glands in it, and produces over a pint of sweat a day, there’s a lot for the bacteria to eat. Shoes and socks even make the situation worse. They trap the sweat, and then the bacteria have their favorite kind of environment: dark and damp, causing them to go into a feeding frenzy.

Bionote: Men’s feet smell at least 40 percent worse than women’s.

So what else is new? d
