A DELI RUN! Senator Highway to Prescott | Sat 3/29/2025 | 4x4 EASY

Join me on run to the deli (and liquor store) by way of the famous Senator Highway to beautiful and historic Prescott.

 

Our trip will include:

  • A trip up the beautiful Crown King Road
  • A brief stop in the famous town of Crown King
  • Lunch in the shady pines along the newly reopened Senator Highway
  • We will end in the historic capitol of Arizona, Prescott
  • For those interested, I plan to stop for an early dinner at the epic Park Plaza Deli & Liquor Store

 

 

TRIP INFO:

Meet-Up: 8:00am on Saturday, March 29, 2025

  • Air down and depart no later than 8:30 am
  • Don't forget a full tank of fuel

 

General Timing:

  • Expect to be gone all day, plan accordingly
  • Trip duration is approximately 6-8 hours
  • Lunch on the trail

 

Meeting Location: 

  • Bloody Basin Road staging area (MAP)
  • Located off northbound i17 exit 257

TRAIL DIFFICULTY  Easy  to  Moderate 

The majority of our trails will be graded dirts roads (Bloody Basin and Crown King Road). 

The Senator Highway is also graded, but has some bumpy sections. The road is passable by any high clearance 4x4 vehicle. 

 

**A note on the winter closure:** The Senator Highway has been closed for the winter. The closure order expires Thursday, 3/27.

Please be advised that the winter may have taken its toll on the road and it may be rougher or smoother than expected. 

 

 

 

DRIVER & VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS:

Driver Requirements:

  • This trip is suitable for drivers of all experience levels.
  • NO drinking and driving on the trail. 
  • A positive attitude and willingness to help others.

 

Vehicle Requirements:

  • All vehicles are required to meet state legal requirements, (i.e.: current registration and insurance)
  • Have functional seat-belts for each occupant
  • Must have suitable recovery points front and rear
  • Each vehicle must have a GMRS or Ham Radio in good working order
  • High-clearance 4x4 with low-range
  • Aggressive all-terrain or mud-terrain tires
 
Additional Considerations:
  • Dress for the weather (layers). We'll be at a higher elevation most of the day (6,000 to 7,000 ft)
  • Bring a chair!
  • Bring a lunch and plenty of water
  • Recovery gear / traction aid
  • Emergency supplies / first aid kit
  • Cash for food at the restaurants and shops in CK (they also intermittently accept card, but cash is king)

Rig Limit This trip is limited to 8 total rigs. Once the limit is reached, anyone asking to sign-up will be placed on the standby list. Please don't hesitate to sign-up as a standby because people often do drop-out so you may get to still go.
