  7. i replaced it. luckily Fry's agreed to a free exchange under the 30 day rule. i just bought it in january. the manager had the full Rollie Fingers mustache! anyway, i grabbed one of those spring action antenna bases too for the nasty tree branches i keep running into. also got the gps mounted up with the battery assist cable purchased from Sportsman's on 27th & union hills. it tucked away somewhat neatly behind the console trim piece considering i did it myself. i can still remove the unit if i need to get to the batteries as well. i just need a cb buddy to test out my replacement. what's your 20? just kidding
  8. Congratulations Diane! another great write-up as usual; makes me want to explore the area when you guys go again in May. i loved the bee story as long as no one got stung! reminds me of mingus mountain when i pitched our tent on top of an angry ant hill.

  10. "You can take a picture of my truck. Just don't take a picture of me."
  11. got back a day early; what a trip! 1. caravan 2. good thing we were in jeeps loaded with camp gear food and plently of water. 3. camp gear: thanks George and Diane for finding us THE ABSOLUTE BEST camp spot! featuring fun rocks to climb within feet of our cave tent! moose was right at home 4. took a different route home "camino del este" then into welton & I-8. Mason spotted this tank on the side of the trail about 3/4's of the way through este.

  14. i called tonto national forest (602) 225-5200 Friday afternoon and asked the first person who answered. i neglected to record her name, badge number, or any other contact information unfortunately; sorry Tooley! i simply got the answer i was looking for and hung up. apparently i spouted off prematurely but the ranger on the other end of the line said it was open indeed and i didn't bother grilling her for further detail.
  15. just got off the phone with a gal at the tonto national forest who confirmed telegraph line road (FR42) has been re-opened.
