i like the look of the vents... just another thought, have you already checked the operation of the viscous clutch to make sure the fan is really spinning at full potential? the only way i know to check it is this: "When the engine is hot, turn it off and then try to spin the fan by hand. On a hot engine, the viscous clutch should be pretty solid and the fan will stop moving as soon as you let it go. If it spins freely, replace it."

hey, welcome to the site! we're glad to have you! you sound exactly like me, lusting for a 4 door JK but can't quite justify that cost. I had an XJ, and i still miss it sometimes, but now i love my WJ.... and prices are falling on them like crazy, so maybe i'll have another WJ brother here soon! in the mean time, post up some pics of your old rigs if you have them -
dude, you gotta get out of the heat more often...

good luck, hope that fixes it.... mine vibes like hell after 75mph, perfect till then. tomorrow new axles with all the new wearable items go in, then this winter i'll change tcases and drive shafts, and so hopefully after all that, the vibes will be gone. i'm running dynabeads dynamic balance in the tires so i don't think it's a wheel balance issue (i even added some more of them recently to make sure i had enough).

didn't you have a hack-n-tap SYE before... why the upgrade to a "real" one? oh, and glad you made it over to here!

what's all this??? well tomorrow i'm finally going to have a shop swap in those axles that i bought like 2 years ago and have never gotten around to installing... they are factory WJ axles just like i already have, except with 4.56 gears and an ARB front locker and an Aussie rear locker in them. the "new" axles only have a couple thousand mile on the gears/bearings/lockers, but the rest of the components have well over 100k miles on them, so i'm having all the wearable parts swapped out at the same time... so the above picture includes: - new clayton weld-in control arm mount spacers - new moog upper & lower ball joints - new upper control arm bushings - new timken unit bearings (will keep old ones for trail spare) - new axle shafts (since the other ones have so many miles on the CV joints, and will keep the old ones as spares) also there: - new motor mounts (current ones look dry rotted and are sagging a bit) - new slightly longer rear bumpstops (5" instead of 4.5" to stop slight rear tire rub under extreme articulation) and the 2 big boxes are clayton 6" springs.... that's for later in the year though. this winter i plan to go to 6" and at the same time swap in a np242hd and new rear driveshaft and rebuild the front shaft. there's also a new tranny mount in the picture that i'll swap in during that transfer case change.

cool! i'd offer to go with, but i'm working this weekend so i can do trips the next 2 weekends! but, that was one of the first 4wd trails i ever did, back when i had a dodge dakota and was first learning to 4wd... i think it was the first time i ever aired down too! have fun if you do go! -
picked up a pay-as-you-go cellphone from biglots today for $10 bucks! why? - to put in my bug-out-bag of course... but why??? don't the minutes expire? don't the minutes cost a crap load?? well for $10 bucks i just got a secondary way of calling 911 in case my main cell phone was dead, or what if i leave my main cell phone in the jeep when that flash flood came and all i had time to grab was my bug-out-bag? then when i hike back to the highway, i can call 911 to rescue the other guy that is stranded in the jeep in the middle of the wash. pay as you go phones usually have minute cards that only last 30,60,or 90 days... but you can always dial 911 on the phone, even if you don't have any minutes for it. that's my plan, it's just another redundant form of communication to have that takes up no space and only cost me 10 bucks. i'll take it out and charge it every few months and other than that, it can just sit in the bug-out-bag turned off all the time. this is the phone, motorola w260g:
