Who's down for Saturday, August 17 for a night run on the next full moon? Suggesting Log Corral to the saddle and back or Sunflower Mine Loop, but leaving it to the group. Vote in the poll and sign up! Log Corral Trail: Rated Moderate + due to the rock garden in the canyon. Big waterfall is by-passable now. The rest of the trail is easy up and over the saddle and on down to the lake. Just there a couple weeks ago, and the trees and bushes were nicely trimmed. Sunflower Mine Loop: Rated Difficult due to a variety of challenges: rock crawl in the creek, long climb out of creek, areas with moguls, short sections of shelf roads. The trail is very scenic as it winds back into a canyon, and offers neat views of the highway at night. Meet-up: Saturday, August 17, 2019 @ 6:00 PM at the Baja gas station (Chevron) on Hwy 87 and Fort McDowell Rd: Map link here... Note: You may want to get gas first someplace else cheaper! These trails recommended for experienced 4x4 enthusiasts. Where do you want to go offroad in 2020? The Offroad Passport Team has already started shaping up some really great trip ideas that we are going to lead this fall, and in 2020. Like every year, we're planning a year in advance so you guys can get time off from work, or whatever, and go. And again this year, we're reaching out to our members to help round out the trips & events calendar. This is a club, and to keep it going, we need participation in the form of folks leading or co-leading trips. We are looking for people with trip ideas, who are willing to lead a trip with our support. We can help with planning, permits, posting in the forum, routes, maps, GPS tracks, etc. (we love this stuff ). No guarantee, but most likely we'll sign up for your run or alt-lead it because that's how we roll. NEW this year, we need people willing sign up as Alt-leader. Alternate leaders will take over leadership of a trip if the original leader gets sick, or for whatever reason, can't go, or needs to meet later, or whatever. The Alt-leader would be fully supported with gpx tracks, maps, review of the the trip plan, any permits, etc. We hope to eliminate last minute cancellations. The more people willing to try their hand at leading a trip of any kind, the better! In fact, day runs and one night camp-outs are the most popular; most people can't take off for a week, except maybe once a year. We think it would even be awesome to see us start having meet-n-greets, BBQ's, or similar non-wheeling events here and there! So now is the time to let us know what trails you'd be up for leading this fall or in 2020. We had such great response last year; let's keep it going! We're getting ready to plan the Trips & Events Calendar for 2018, and we wondered if you guys would be interested in having some input to the process? This thread is to gauge interest in doing an Offroad Passport entry in the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in Fountain Hills. If enough people want to do it I'll get an entry form. I'd like at least 7 - 10 rigs, and I can provide 2 of those, so at least 5 more... We would all need to be staging early (7 am I think?). Oh, and you'll be back home by noon so you won't miss turkey and all the trimmings! Let me know if you want to do it!!

In an email from TreadLightly!: We Need Your Help! Join us for a stewardship event to clean up White Tanks Mountains! Help keep target shooting areas open for continued use. Every Volunteer Counts! Please bring water, work gloves, hat, sunscreen, trash pinchers, buckets and wear long pants and sturdy shoes. 4WD and OHV vehicles are useful. When: Saturday, April 16th, 2016 Time: 8:00am – 2:00 pm Where: White Tanks Mountains (Miller Road) Click here for map RSVP: Sign up online Directions: The White Tanks Project Site is located off of I-10 and Miller Road. Off I-10 take exit 114 to Miller Road, turn right on Miller Road, left on Tonopah Salome Hwy, keep left at the fork passed the trail service yard and follow posted signs to project site. Volunteers will also be on site providing more information and directions. Parking: Park in rows as directed by signs and volunteers when signing parking along a road, park only on one side of the road to prevent blocking traffic. Drive cautiously wherever you go on this day. Safety first! Additional Information:The area is very popular with recreational target shooters because of its close proximity to the Phoenix area. Unfortunately, this area is also prone to illegal dumping, littering, and debris that needs to be cleaned up. Questions? Many of our members have pets who enjoy adventuring as much as we do! The following policy is designed to keep everyone (and their fur babies) safe and happy. Thank you for helping us keep Offroad Passport a pet-friendly club by following these few simple guidelines! Offroad Passport Pet Policy Our priority is the safety of our members and their enjoyment of Offroad Passport trips and events. Friendly, non-disruptive pets are welcome on most trips. Trip leaders have final say whether pets (in general or specific ones) are welcome on their run. Pets must be well behaved around other pets and people, including small children. They must be on a leash and in the owner's control at all times. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets (picking up their waste) in a timely manner. Members whose pets exhibit dangerous, threatening or disruptive behavior during an outing (such as biting, growling, snapping, barking, chasing, taking food, begging for food, marking other people's property, etc.) will be asked to keep their pet in their rig or at their camp, away from rest of the group for the duration of the trip. Pets that repeatedly disrupt or threaten group safety will not be allowed to attend future trips and events. -

We will have a fun filled day to show off your rigs, climb the RTI Ramp, win some nice Raffle Prizes all to raise awareness of Hero Offroad and the Toys program. Help us fill up a "Deuce" and have some fun with your local offroaders. Phoenix 4 Wheel Parts will have a donation bin at their location if you can not make it the day of the event.

12/5/2015 3PM Hunter's 17th Annual BBQ 625 S. Smith Rd. Suite 1, Tempe AZ 85281 Here is the short scoop. When: Saturday, Dec. 5th 3:00 PM - till we close it down. (Usually about 7-8) Where: Hunter Offroad 625 S Smith Tempe, Arizona, 85281 This is a pot-luck style event. Needed most are the BBQ grills and tables. Everyone brings a little bit of food, and there is plenty for everyone. One huge pot luck. Bring a pack of burgers, a pack of hot dogs or soda. Bring a side dish, bean dip or ketchup, etc. Got a BBQ grill? Bring it and be a hero. Grills are always needed. Bring some cash for raffle tickets, T-shirts and other little items. I have some long sleeve shirt T-shirts left from last year and looking to get more black "shop" edition shirts. Bring some chairs to sit in, an a table to on if ya got it. Oh, don't forget the camera. Check below for all the info. I will be "Stuffing the Buggy" again this year for the a Toy Drive for the Sheriff's Office. It has become pretty succeful and a great tradition. Here's are basics and how-to rules for the BBQ, for all of you newbies coming for the first time; or for those of you, cant remember the last one .. If there are changes, they will be added here. Watch the "update" date to see if anything has been added. Notes will be added. (Such as more tables or if I need more BBQ grills, because you can never really have enough tables and BBQs) - First Rule - Food. Everyone brings a little. Biggest tailgate, or flat fender pot-luck party. Everyone will have a lot. Bring a side dish, bring a few bottles of ketchup, plates, drinks what ever. If you can, post what you are bring here so some folks can get an idea what you are bringing. One thing I ask.... If you buy meat, try and buy matching buns, helps cut down on being too lopsided. Bring a cooler with ice and have a friend bring sodas or water. You get the idea. - Why its done: Goes back to the roots of the very first one - Allows everyone a chance to meet other Jeeper's and other 4wheeler's and swap ideas, check out other rides and get ideas, make friends and have a good time. Most fun you will have with your 4x4 in parking lot. There are a lot of new faces this year and should be plenty of new people from other clubs. So feel free to spread the word. - RTI Ramp - It will be good times as usual on the Ramp. Show everyone what you got. See if you improved over last year. Or just have fun and flex out for the camera. A rule to remember: I may have 2 ramps this year. Also, if you plan on going "all out" on the ramp, make sure you put the word out so we can give you room and get the cameras ready. - The Infamous "Screw 'Em Raffle - I am always looking for items and business to promote for donate, 4x4 related or not. If anyone here has a local business, regardless if its 4x4 related or now, contact me if, still in the communuty and like to help get the word in regards to the raffle or having a vendor booth space. The Raffle Overview. 1 Dollar a Ticket. 12 for 10 bucks *If you wear a Hunter Offroad T-shirt, you also get a free raffle ticket. *If you deck out your ride in Christmas decoration, you will also get free ticket for that. Personal Beverages at the BBQ? Only thing I ask, remember, it is a family event, so take care and mind your self. It is private property so you can enjoy. If you like to bring some cold ones and talk shop with your buddies, go ahead and play nice and be prepared to share with the host. And my standing rule goes, I may or may not tell you what is my soda... Selling Stuff Swap Meet ideas. I have no problem if you want to sell some of your parts. Helps you and osmeone else get some good stuff.. Thats what this is all about. Only rule, don't bring so much stuff, that is takes up room in the parking lot for people to park. If you have something bigger, leave it on the street. I want to save room for folks to setup their chairs, and allow as much room for people to park as possible in the lot. Usually a Jeep in a place will still have some room in front, behind or besides to display stuff. That's fine. I need BBQ's. And Ill say it again, Im gonna need some BBQs. And tables for the food... always do. More the better. From the past, 5 normal size grills can cook all we need in the time to feed everyone. Be a hero and bring a grill. We are always looking for volunteers to help. Also, anyone want to run the kitchen area? I have found it does help to have a little direction. If You wantto bring a BBQ, please send me a message Email: hunteroffroad@aol.com or call 480-557-7577 Do not to forget to bring Tables and chairs to sit on too for you and for others. Also, I will need BIG tables for Kitchen Area. Contact me if you have some. Will need at least 4 to 5 3x8 tables. That should cover the bulk of it. It's the 6th Annual 4Peaks Cleanup, Hosted by Copperstate 4Wheelers and TRAL. WHERE: Take Beeline Hwy. (SR. 87) North from the valley to past mile marker 203 & just before 204 - turn Rt. on Four Peaks Rd (FR143) and go ~ .8 mile to the staging area - you can't miss it. WHEN: November 7th, 2015, from 8:00am - 4:30pm - ****NOTE**** there will be a morning and an afternoon cleanup session - 8:00 - 12:00 & ~2:00 - 4:30. WHO: Everyone and Anyone wanting to help clean up the area and join in the Fight to help keep OUR PUBLIC LANDS Open and Accessible for ALL. 4WD and OHV Enthusiasts and Clubs, Volunteer organizations (ie: TRAL), Boy Scouts, etc. Etc., and for the First time……Organized Participation from the "Shooting Community" - Thanks to Rio Solado Sportsman's Club, and Layke Tactical!!! We're Very Happy to have you involved!!!! REGISTRATION: Will be held at 8:00 am (or before), and another at 1:30pm +/- for the afternoon participants. WHAT TO BRING: Weather appropriate clothing; closed toe shoes; gloves; hat; sunscreen; water; food and snacks; trash pickers, rakes, shovels, hoes; though we will have lots on hand - trash bags (contractor bags are preferred) just in case; trash cans - solid or collapsible - very helpful for holding bags open; trucks and trailers for transporting trash to the staging area RAFFLE: There will be a raffle for each cleanup session - tickets given out at registration for morning session, and again for those doing the afternoon cleanup - drawings to be held at ~12:30 & 4:45. There will also be a special raffle just for the kids in attendance - please be sure to get tickets for them. LUNCH ETC: Lunch will be provided for up to 500 registered volunteers, THANKS to Tread Lightly. Porta-Johns will be on site. SAFETY: There will be a short Safety briefing immediately following/ during registrations - please pay attention and follow the guidelines set out. Tonto National Forest will be issuing a "NO SHOOTING" Order for the area for the day, and Tonto, AZGFD, and County Law Enforcement will be present. SAFETY IS ALWAYS OUR PRIMARY CONCERN!! TRASH DISPOSAL: This year we will have 4 - 40 yard roll-off dumpsters (Thanks to Republic Services and TRAL), as well as tractors to help load them. Trucks and trailers will be making rounds to the sites to help transport trash, but again, if you have trucks or trailers please bring them if you can. VENDORS: Are encouraged to come out to help, and also show off their Products/ Services, and Rigs - it's a Great Opportunity to connect with the volunteers. AND: We are planning A, or multiple (depending on interest) trail rides/ runs for the late afternoon/ evening. We may be asking for additional Trip Leaders depending on participation. 10/24/2015: Offroad Passport Mud Springs Trail Clean-up Sponsored by Extreme Terrain Offroad Passport is the proud recipient of a ExtremeTerrain Clean Trail Grant! ExtremeTerrain strongly advocates for the responsible recreational use of off-road trails, and this is a great way to show your support too! We're doing a clean-up at Mud Springs Trail, focusing mainly on the staging area at the trail-head. Water, snacks and lunch will be provided (thanks ExtremeTerrain!). To keep us on budget we're limiting the number of people helping to about 25, including Offroad Passport staff. Lunch will be served after the work is done! Extreme Terrain is supplying the food and Offroad Passport is cooking up some hot dogs and hamburgers. There will be a raffle after lunch! Everyone who comes out to help clean will receive a free raffle ticket! Meet-up: 8:00 AM TheKSmith will lead a convoy the location Saturday morning. Click here for the full thread... ---------------------------- Meetup: 9:30 AM 4-Son's Convenience Store, at the intersection of the I-17 and Carefree Highway. (East of the 17 & North side of the Carefree Hwy). Talk in: Simplex - 147.520 Repeater - Shaw Butte 147.240 + offset 162.2 Tone Air down/up will be at the same spot on the west side of the Table Mesa exit off of the I-17, so this is RZR/ATV friendly. Many moons ago a novice off-roader traveled The Table Mesa area for the first time with aired down, street friendly tires. The newbie eagerly followed the experienced lead 4x4 down a trail that "looked like a lot of fun" and promptly tore open a side wall on the first hill. This trail forever became known (at least to him) as "The Flat Tire Trail", know to have been traveled at least once by "The Most Interesting Man in the World". A fun, narrow, hilly and tippy trail, Flat Tire is a nice, short detour on the way to Tip Top Silver Mine. Tip Top is a typical Arizona Ghost Town complete with dilapidated buildings and remnants of a silver mine. At it's peak, Tip Top had 500 residents, it's own post office and was one of Arizona's largest towns at the time. Expect a relaxed day with stock friendly trails with a lunch stop planned in Tip Top (BYOL). Hello all, The third annual Five-O Car Show is rapidly approaching on November 14th. The Gilbert Police Department has organized a car show fundraiser for the Special Olympics Unified Sports Program. The show will be at the San Tan Village Mall located at 2218 E. Williams Field Rd. Gilbert, AZ. Pre registration is $15 and the day of is $20. There will be lots of raffles and giveaways. We had some guys from this club as well as other clubs attend last year. The Jeeps and four wheel drives are always popular. The guys that brought out their expedition set ups were a hit. Online registration is open on our website below. Our Facebook page is up and running for updating everyone. Please pass the word about this event. The Special Olympic kids really need everyone's help with this very cool program. Click here for the full thread... ---------------------------- ANSR-92 and ANSR-93 High Altitude Balloon Flight Announcement @ CopaFest 2015 We welcome any HAMs that wish to participate in the chase and recovery ****Note the launch site may change if winds require it.*** Arizona Near Space Research (ANSR) is pleased to announce the flights of ANSR-92 and ANSR-93. These high altitude balloon flights will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. The launch site will be CopaFest 2015, Ham Radio in the Desert Hamfest, 16000 Maricopa Road, Maricopa, AZ 85129. The site is at the Ak-Chin Ultra-Star Multi-tainment Center at Ak-Chin Circle and Casino (Lat: 33 deg 1.67 min; Lon: 112 deg, 3.04 min) Two 2000 gram balloons will be launched, filled with hydrogen. The expected burst altitude will be 90,000 feet or more. The flights are anticipated to last about 2.5 hours from launch to touchdown. The spacing of the launches may be as much as 30 minutes depending on ground winds. These flights will be a demonstration flight for Amateur Television payloads and tracking beacons. Pima-Community College student built payloads will accompany the flights for a STEMSat Demonstration. Balloon-borne transmitters: ANSR-92: APRS KA7NSR-6, 144.34 MHz, :08 and :38 seconds APRS KA7NSR-9, 445.925 MHz, :15 and :45 seconds CW beacon on 147.515 MHz ATV Transmitter 2432 MHz (FM) Cross-band Repeater, input 145.56 MHz (162.2 Hz tone), output 445.525 MHz ANSR-93: APRS KA7NSR-8, 144.34 MHz, :20 and :50 seconds APRS KA7NSR-7, 445.925 MHz, :00 and :30 seconds CW beacon on 147.515 MHz Mesh Network Experiment (still pictures) 2390 MHz The ANSR Cross-Band Repeater will operate from ANSR-92. While contacts (especially DX) are welcome, please give priority to chase team members. Our mobile cross band Digipeater will repeat locally the beacons' APRS data to the 144.390 MHz standard APRS frequency and subsequently will be I-GATED to the Internet for out-of-area trackers. Click here for the full thread... ---------------------------- Join us the second Saturday in November for our annual trip to the Titan Missile Museum in Sahuarita, AZ. Each year 4x4 Ham holds a fall get-together at the base of the 80-foot tall discone antenna that is part of the a Cold War Titan missile complex located south of Tucson, AZ. The antenna is still serviceable, thanks to the efforts of the Green Valley Amateur Radio Club, and available for amateur use. In addition to working the antenna for the day, many folks participate in one of the guided tours of the missile site put on by Museum volunteers. This year, I'm organizing the trip from outside the Phoenix metro area. If anyone in the Phoenix area wants to put together a caravan to travel down, feel free to do so in this forum post. I'll be making the drive from the Alamogordo, NM area if anyone from the Borderlands wants to caravan. Otherwise, make your own way to Sahuarita, AZ by 9:00am Arizona time and we'll meet up in the parking lot at the base of the antenna near the coax connection. We should have radios running throughout the day until around 1600. Bring drinks/snacks and any radios you might want to try to hook up to the antenna, as we'll have ample opportunity to put various radios and modes on the air throughout the day.
