scotty - check this out: https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/ctd/5852264051.html

oh and your soundsystem does sound great. way more punch than i expected from that little box!

That ZJ is something I'd build if I had to start all over, I wonder how it performs on the trail.. Looks like it hasn't seen too many off road miles yet.

Thanks man, definitely did not expect it to sound as good as it does!

When installing the new line level amplifier control recently I had to take apart the center console. That's when my brittle shifter bezel broke into a million pieces. This wasn't the first time removing it and the bezel has broken before but usually I could super glue it back together. Not this time

Searched the web for replacements. The only one I could find was used and on ebay for $50

Reluctantly, I bought it and popped it back in

Simple job when it fits correctly and I got the little orange gear indicator back that fell out of my old one years ago. The only hurdle in this procedure was figuring out how to remove the factory AW4 shifter handle but a quick google search and 5 seconds of labor was all it took.

With new leaf pack bushings all complete & upper y link rubber also redone it's time to rebuild the rest of my front end, namely the track bar & lower control arm flex joints. Back over to G's to help get my fix

Track bar races replaced & new hardware but 4 wheel parts sent the wrong flex ball with only a half inch opening instead of 9/16. I ended up re-using my original

It cleaned up ok and wasn't too bad

Now on to the lower control arms. Rubber bushings still looked great from a prior rebuild but the flex joint end was very crusty

The 'joints were indeed loose and the races were chipped

the flex ball contact surface was marred, resembling drywall if you look close

New hotness

The LCA was making contact with a skid my buddy fabbed to the axle mount for protection from rocks. I could tell from visible scuffs at the front (which I forgot to take pictures of). Before reinstalling, George beat the crap out of it with a sledgehammer, removing the concave and once again allowing full clearance for the control arm

Then we buttoned everything back up

& finished up on the driver side.

No more tracking on uneven pavement plus all the popping and clunking noises are gone. Victory! This jeep once again drives like a Cadillac:cool:

Steering wheel erosion right at 12 o'clock where I usually like to hold it

1FE33F71-DA6B-48BF-8C3D-6BF76317DDA5_zpsamzcpjm7.jpg

Noticed it getting a lot worse over last summer

FA87105B-C91F-4472-8E55-50C23E61C137_zpsvynrkv2o.jpg

I decided to purchase wheelskins for $49 & leather wrap it before the deterioration got any worse

A7B012A0-A315-4C23-80D5-4F5498EE180F_zps34u617fq.jpg

It sews on to my steering wheel. The lacing holes are reinforced to resist tearing, so i pulled as tight as I could on the cord while lacing. Tight is right!

41F33C40-4D03-4EB9-B842-C8558FF82770_zps6zuzjwiw.jpg

Had difficulty keeping the stitching pattern uniform over the giant spokes due to the way the lacing holes lined up & there was no way I could stretch it enough to eliminate gaps near the spokes completely. Directions say to stretch the leather very strongly at wheel bumps and thicker sections. I stretched the crap out of it! Had a $25 gift code to amazon & shipping was cheap.

Overall even with the gaps and lacing I'm pleased how It turned out. Really liking the thicker feel of the leather wrap. It fits very tight, you can see the original seams under the leather and the wheel feels firmer.
