What does it do? thanks! yes, just a bit of corrugated plastic tucked in there to keep the sun from deteriorating the synthetic line. i remove it if i need to use the winch. correct again - the toggle on the left enables the on-demand pump and beside it is the sprayer for my on-board-hot-water setup. the switch on the right turn on the wireless controller for the Smittybilt X2O winch. that box it's on is the winch controller. it came with a little red rocker switch right there which stopped working after i was in a river crossing above the bumper, so i replaced it with a fully sealed toggle. theksmith 5,778 Posted December 20, 2022 (edited) spent some time the past few days tracking down and fixing a clunk-clunk-clunk noise/vibration. i first thought it might be a bad u-joint in the front driveshaft, so i pulled the shaft and did find one slightly crunchy joint. fortunately i had a spare one in my bag of parts under the seat. however, the noise was still present on a test drive even with the driveshaft removed. based on the frequency and type of sound, i was convinced i had broken a pinion tooth. i called Joe at @OnPointOffroad to ask about my gear warranty, but he talked me off the ledge and had me do some additional troubleshooting... eventually i found it was just a bad unit bearing (wheel hub) on the passenger side. and with 145k miles on the rig, i've been carrying a spare one of those too! with the sound up, you can hear the noise from the bad bearing in the video below. when the wheel was still on, it was really hard to isolate and seemed like it was coming more from the diff. theksmith 5,778 Posted January 5, 2023 (edited) got the new wheels to go with the hub conversion! tried to find some black zinc coated bolts to replace the chrome looking ones on the fake beadlock, but no luck - so i just painted the entire lip with Krylon matte black. the actual wheel finish was somewhere between full flat and matte, so the Krylon is a little too shiny, but those lips will get scraped up and touched-up a million times. couldn't wait to see what they are going to look like when done, so i mocked one up with the new front hub and lug nuts. will probably start the hub conversion next week!
