Sounds fun... Mark me as a maybe until I can sort out a couple things... -
For the YJ I presume...

FWIW: I would not be pinning my hopes on a Diesel JK for the US market anytime soon... Too many gov't regs and (*)hoops to jump through to make it worth the risk to manufacturer's who wish to sell in the US markets... (read that too say... Too much $$'s in development and testing costs required by our gov't, to make trying to come to market in the US with a diesel in this market segment, a financially sound decision... Diesels make perfect financial business sense in most of the rest of the world, as most of the rest of the world is running on a high percentage of diesel powered vehicles. SO... for overseas markets you cannot get very many sales without a diesel offering...)

Merry Christmas to all...

Bought myself a new helmet and goggles for my off-road two wheeling & quad riding. We'll have to wait to know the rest...

Good to hear from you Don, and glad to hear you're enjoying it... I'd absolutely LOVE the lower population density... Was the reason I moved to Arizona in the first place... But pretty sure these old bones would not be all that keen on the winters... Even if they are mild by Montana standards... Merry Christmas to you and your's...

Would not call myself a hiker, but do enjoy a stroll through the boonies every "now-N-then"...

Dual Battery System Management Recommendations?
ob1jeeper replied to theksmith's topic in Communications & Other Electronics
Many marine applications are exactly what you are seeking... My larger boat has a simple two-batt manual switch, but there are many different automatic systems that will fit your needs available... Will get you some links later today, as I'm off to the valley for soem consulting stuff today... -
Help! Advice to make 4x2 Dodge more capable.
ob1jeeper replied to rcintx's topic in Other/Multiple Brand Vehicles
IMHO, any minor gains you can get are not worth the trip, an any and all of those changes (other than a functional 4x4 addition) will be of minimal improvement for off-roading on a vehicle of this size... You will be mucho $$'s ahead to save up your coins, until you an afford to move to a true 4x4... Any $$'s you spend on any kind of lift for this vehicle is gonna be money pee'd into the toilet and flushed, with almost no noticeable gain, and an increased potential for getting stuck in places you shouldn't be in the first place. The ONLY money I'd put into this vehicle for "some" minor improvements would be slightly larger dia. tires, and if it did not already have it, and I could find it dirt cheap... maybe some sort of rear axle traction aid. Bottom line is that a vehicle of this size NEEDS the front wheels to be capable of moving that end of the vehicle's weight. Reason ? Other than when the cargo area is loaded up (not when you want to be off-road anyway), over 50 % of the vehicles weight is going to be on the front tires, which is gonna make it tough to move, should you get on soft stuff with the rears. -
Not that I am aware of... There were literally thousands upon thousands of folks in the Glamis area... I did finally find some local friends who I knew were going to be there, and I knew of several folks who were going to either Butter Cup or to Gordons well, but did not make it that far south to visit with them...

day run: 12/5/09 2PM - ??? Hunter's Annual Barbecue

Yes... -
Sounds like a good time... I spent my turkey day @ Glamis with my nephew and his young family... Had an absolutely GREAT time visiting with them and riding the dunes... We also did fried Turkey... My nephew the "Turkey Chef"... OlBlue sat out this weekend, as every one else was brining quads... So I did the same... here's our "steeds" for the weekend... The "little one" with my pooch "Snoopy"... Caught her sitting for once... MOST of the weekend, she had ahold of Snoopy's leash, Dragging the snoop-dog around camp, and scolding the poor pooch for all manner of "infractions of ettiquette, etc..." (such as stopping to take a poop in the middle of the circle of campers...)

SWEET... I ended up with my dad's old 14ft Lowe this fall... Been busy fixin't things that were not up to snuff, but it's gettin' close, and about time to splash her...

I grabbed an old cot, and laid out in my back yard... Was pretty cool watching the meteors (until I fell asleep...) No wildlife ot keep me awake... BUT... Like Kris, I too saw a few "long-tails"... Meteors that is, as opposed to smelly striped tails...
-
Welcome... BTW: I too learned to use "other" traction aiding devices, LONG before I got around to Jeepin'... All we had and could afford back then was open diff 2WD cars 'n trucks, plenty of shovels, burlap sacks, etc...
