Hey Kris, this resistance youre talking about, if one were to have bad resistance what symptoms would I see? depending on which cable/wire it was - a poor connection might give you a slow/weak start, or the battery might not be charging fully which would result in shorter lifespan. pretty much the same symptoms you'd get if you had really corroded or slightly loose terminal clamps. the more current flowing and the higher resistance, the more heat that is generated. so absolute worst case scenario might be a high amp accessory like a winch with a poor connection and that could melt something important or even start a fire. and finally - not sure about XJ's, but i know my WJ was very finicky about system voltage, a really low battery or poor connection could make it run like crap or light up the cluster with random warning lights. my JK appears much more electronically stable. as i recently found out, you can even completely disconnect the JK's battery while it's running and it keeps purring just fine! sorry to hijack your thread for electrical discussions Scott Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
scottL 185 Posted February 2, 2018 glad you finally got that finished hopefully having it on that clip doesn't let it vibrate on the trail too much. have you had a chance to play around with Gaia yet?Drove to the grocery store yesterday with it & figured how to make my map center on the jeep which is cool. Concerned I won't be able to get the swivel mount tight enough to secure the weight of my phone the way I ended up mounting it. If I twist the phone sideways to "landscape" it holds better but yeah, driving down the street with phone as pictured it would not hold still. I'm going to try to tighten the mount jam nut more and if that doesn't work I'll have to "re-engineer" something Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

theksmith 5,778 Posted February 7, 2018 Scott, regarding Gaia, these are the 4 main things you probably need to know how to do for the app to be useful: 1 - download maps of an area for offline use before a trip... 2 - import GPX files (tracks & waypoints) that someone else made... it doesn't mention if you can directly import a GPX file from a website link, but give it a shot with the file here... 3 - record your own tracks while on a trip... 4 - view and manage your saved waypoints/tracks/maps... scottL 185 Posted February 14, 2018 Last Saturday while out on the trail my rear tire slipped off a boulder & a tree branch smashed into my passenger side vent glass. Luckily Gary was on the driver side at the time Checked Craigslist for replacements when I got home & found a pair of rear doors off a '00 for $250. Dude was willing to sell just the passenger side for $125. But he lives 35 miles away in Gilbert & only responded to e-mail days later. I ended up purchasing a brand new replacement from ebay for $52. Took the door panel off & also bought some extra door panel fasteners from Autozone. The "Chrysler" fasterners looked exactly like the "Nissan" ones except Nissan's had a sweet felt washer which holds them more securely to the door so I got them instead Pretty cool looking with all windows down:cool: Wala Now I can take my Jeep to the car wash.
