I still have the suburban, and recently completed a 4000+ miles tour from Tucson to Washington state and back over 28 days on the road. It was amazing and included touring the Basin and Range NM in NV, several California Trail routes in NV along the truckee and the blackrock desert playa, turning north to eastern Oregon wildlife refuges, and the Washington okanagan rivers and forests... then via the north cascades NP a costal return. No subaru but I do have a CX5 AWD for skiing (the annual ski safari).

FYI. Vaal had a new owner.

Update The jeep is with a friend for sale in Phoenix area. I’ll take 13k.

Trying to decide... :-) Figure having no Jeep will force me to make the compromises! I like being able to sleep in the vehicle so maybe I can replace the Burb too.

Update: while not completed the following is almost done 1. new J20 diff housing front 2. new ball joints 3. truss and gussets front axle 4. truss rear axle 5. new track bar mount

Best I can tell - running Elvis earlier this year. I believe I bent axle and compromised the bracket then which broke running washboarding (not aired down) on the trip west from Nogales. I did capture a picture of the jeep at the start of my trip for Nogales and you can clearly see the bent axle.
