These are not bad units and like Kris mine lasted a couple of years. The only issue is the fittings are not standard, so if you want to change things out you'll need to tap some new threads into the compressor. No biggie if thats not a concern. The other issue is they do not have a regulator so unless you are adding a tank, you have to first hook the chuck to the valve, turn on the compressor, turn it off to check the air pressure, turn back on if you need more air, etc. Again, not a big issue, but the gauge on the unit never matched my tire gauges so just had to go through that process. After that one died I purchased a Smittybuilt. It came DOA, dead on arrival. I opened it up and had to solder the wires back together. Then after about 4 total hours of use it now sounds like it is getting ready to explode. I would not waste the money again. I'd take it out to the desert and shoot the shit out of it, but then I'd have to clean the mess up... Scott, I really like the ARB dual compressor. Definitely pricey, but hopefully it will last as long as the Jeep. Comes with a 150 psi regulator. I paired it up with a Powertank chuck and airing up is nice and easy now. Thinking about adding a 2.5 gallon tank, but right now no need for it. Let me know if you want to try it out by airing up your tires.

Thanks Larry for the insight to the area. Gonna start diggin through the Google results. AZBillyBoy I started at the I17 and Table Mesa exit. It's Forrest Road 9999. It's the road that gets you to Lower and Upper Terminator.

Decided last minute to go and check out Tip Top Mine. Its a nice drive and an easy enough trail. Plenty of side trails to test your metal if you want too. The Rubi did fine but I did end up using my skids on a few spots where the breakover in the trail was too great for the standard 32's and length of the unlimited to handle. Also put a small dent in the cross member when I stirred up a good size rock and hit it. All in all a nice trip. I believe continuing west from the mine there is a trail back south to Lake Pleasant and Route 74. I'll do some more research as I think this would make a nice day trip through the Bradshaw's.

Thanks Kris for all the help and pieces/parts I 'borrowed' You did a really a nice job. I like that we did not have to run the wires to the drivers side and then back to the battery. This made for a clean install and also keeps the compressor in it's max output range as running longer wires would have reduced the output. I thought removing the dash would be a little more difficult than it was. Turned out to be 4 screws and had to remove the middle air vents to gets my hands behind the window switches to separate that harness. Once out, it was just a matter of gently pulling the dash out. Wires going into the firewall. Took some Kydex and mounted the switch. This is temporary as I may add a tank in the rear and will then run the switch back there.

Had some paracord lying around so whipped up a couple of grab handles: And a simple bracket for the Cobra. I used to use a front windshield mount, so I like this a lot better. Bracket mounts right behind passenger grab bar.

Thanks everyone!! Sure, I started with Billy, but only because of the color... Well I got the compressor mounted under the passenger seat. Looks like I have to run the wires through an opening by the drivers side, no opening big enough on the passenger side that I can find. Hope to get that done by the weekend.

Well, I decided to jump in and purchase a JK Unlimited Rubicon. Over the last year or so the 4Runner became quite the money pit with repairs. Actually thought I owned a boat. The Liberty too was starting to show it's age, although some from my own neglect. I had rented one from Barlow's and just wanted to make sure this would be the one. It is mainly a daily driver but obviously plenty capable for off roading. I really liked the handling and as I get older the creature comforts aren't too shabby either. Looked a bit for a 2012 or 2013 and ended up with a 2014. Hopefully we'll get many years out of her. Some of the basic mods have been installing the CB, an oil pan/tranny skid, EVAP skid mod, and an ARB onboard air compressor. Oh yeah, I like the window air deflectors too. I'll get pics of the mods up later but here are a few of the Jeep.

Thanks Alain, really appreciate that. Once I get the unit in and sized up I'll see where I stand. I have heated seats so the extra wiring harness attached to the seat frame may put a damper on mounting it under the passenger seat. If so I think I'll just make it a portable unit for the time being.

Nice install Alain. Yep after going through 2 cheapo portable compressors I opted for the same one above. Should be here next week. I thought about mounting it in a portable case, I will probably do the passenger seat install though. Any pics of how you routed your wiring and switch?

Refoamed the 2 front speakers in Liberty. Nice to have music again after a couple years. Also replaced the passenger side windows regulator. Cleaned the interior in the 4Runner. Not sure where all this energy came from...LOL...
